In-person and Online Beginner Bagpipe lessons for Kids & Adults
Whether you are completely new to the instrument or looking to refine your technique, I offer structured one-to-one bagpipe tuition tailored to your level and goals.
Lessons are available in-person/hybrid across London and Dundee, as well as online for students further afield. A free taster session is available with no need for any equipment.
Having begun learning at the age of eight and competed at the UK and World Pipe Band Championships, I combine traditional training with practical performance experience.
Complete Beginners
Start from the very beginning on the practice chanter, learning correct technique and musical foundations step by step. No prior experience is required. A taster session is available, where I will bring a chanter you can try before getting your own.
Adults Starting Later in Life
It is never too late to begin. Tuition is structured patiently and clearly, making it accessible for adult learners with no musical background.

FROM NOTHING TO FIRST PERFORMANCE
One of my recent students began with no prior musical experience, starting on the practice chanter and learning the fundamentals step by step.
We focused on building a strong foundation, covering the scale, finger movements, timing and technique in a simple, structured way. Once that groundwork was in place, we gradually introduced tunes and worked towards transitioning onto the full bagpipes.
She now plays in the development feeder band of the same band I perform with, and her younger sisters have since started their own journey learning with me.
The tune featured in the video was given to her just one week prior, demonstrating how quickly progress can be made when the foundations are right.

I am an award-winning Scottish bagpiper, performing full-time across the UK. I began learning the bagpipes at just eight years old, and that long-term, structured training shapes the way I now teach others.
With over 16 years of playing experience and more than 9 years performing professionally, I bring a clear and proven approach to helping beginners build strong foundations from the very start.
I have competed at major championships, including the UK and World Pipe Band Championships, performing alongside some of the finest pipers in the world. Alongside performing at weddings, funerals and events across the UK, I work with students of all ages to progress onto the full pipes and into band, solo or recreational environments.
My approach to teaching is patient, structured and tailored to each individual, focusing not just on playing, but on building confidence and enjoyment along the way.
